AMG Acquires Tuned In Grading, Expanding Its Vinyl Grading Leadership

On March 12, 2024, Audio Media Grading announced it had acquired Tuned In Grading, a Dallas-based vinyl authentication and grading startup — bringing together two companies built by music fans, for music fans, under one roof.
Who Was Tuned In Grading?
Tuned In Grading launched in 2022, co-founded by four Dallas-based music fans: real estate investor and venture capitalist Rogers Healy, radio personality Jeff "Skin" Wade, and Luke Sardello and Waric Cameron of independent record retailer Josey Records / Eastwood Music Group. The team built their own "Grading Bible" — a system for evaluating records across four categories: the record itself, the jacket, the inner sleeve, and the labels — and sealed graded items with holographic labels and QR codes. Bootstrapped on less than $500,000, it became, in AMG's own words, "one of the fastest growing businesses in the collectibles space."
Why AMG Made the Move
"What Rogers and the team at Tuned In Grading have built over the last year is incredible," said Jeremy Downs, CEO of AMG. "Their focus on the collector as the customer and their world-class operations has us excited to welcome them to the AMG family. AMG and Tuned In Grading share the same DNA — we are both companies for music fans, founded by music fans — and we are thrilled to continue this journey together over the years ahead."
Rogers Healy, co-founder of Tuned In Grading, echoed that sentiment: "I am thrilled to be joining forces with AMG and the amazing team behind their services and product. As a Venture Capitalist and music enthusiast myself, it is so special to have been able to play a part in helping collectors preserve the music. We look forward to seeing the growth of the company and working with them along the way to keep the music alive."
What Changed for Collectors
The acquisition folded Tuned In Grading's vinyl expertise directly into AMG's existing authentication and grading platform for vinyl, cassettes, CDs, and 8-tracks — consolidating what had been two separate services into a single destination. AMG integrated Tuned In Grading's operations over the following weeks, and Healy stayed on in an advisory capacity through his venture capital firm.
