• Authenticate What You Have

Original pressings and sealed tapes are frequently misrepresented. AMG verifies the shell, J-card, and tape condition to confirm what you're actually holding — protecting sellers and buyers alike. More on how to submit here.

  • Capture the Premium

A graded cassette consistently sells for multiples of what the same tape fetches raw. AMG collectors see a 6X+ premium over ungraded copies of the same release.

  • Stop the Degradation

Cassette J-cards yellow and crack. Shells warp. Our sonically sealed, tamper-evident case keeps temperature and humidity away from the tape itself.

  • Display It Properly

AMG cases are designed to display cassettes with the full J-card artwork visible. Wall-mount or shelf-stand — a graded cassette is a display piece, not a drawer item.

Industry-Leading Slabs

AMG's patent-pending case is the only encapsulation system purpose-built for cassettes. The sonically sealed, tamper-evident case makes any attempt to open it immediately obvious to buyers. Standard and extended-play cassettes both fit without modification.

Every Tape Has a Case

Standard cassettes, chrome tapes, and double-length — AMG cases accommodate all cassette formats. The case is designed to show the full J-card artwork through crystal-clear acrylic on all sides, so your tape is as much a display piece as it is a graded collectible. Display upright on a shelf, flat in a frame, or wall-mounted.

Every Format. Every Generation.

AMG grades all cassette formats and generations. Standard Type I tapes, chrome (Type II), metal (Type IV), extended play, and sealed tapes from any era — if it's a cassette, we can grade it. Signed cassettes are graded with our standard service alongside autograph authentication.

Cassette Grading — Common Questions

Yes — and it's growing. In 2023, cassette sales hit their highest level since the early 2000s. Limited runs from artists like Taylor Swift, Tyler the Creator, and Billie Eilish sell out immediately. Original sealed tapes from the 80s and 90s regularly sell for hundreds of dollars. A graded, certified copy commands a significant premium.

AMG grades all components: the shell condition (cracks, warping, label wear), the J-card (creases, tears, yellowing, ink fading), the tape itself (any visible damage or deformation), and overall presentation. Each element is assessed independently and contributes to the final 1–10 grade.

Yes. Sealed tapes are graded in sealed condition — we do not open them. The seal itself is assessed as part of the grading criteria.

Use a small bubble mailer or padded envelope. Wrap each cassette in a small piece of bubble wrap. If submitting multiple tapes, separate them so they can't knock against each other. Include your printed AMG packing slip. USPS First Class with tracking is fine for most domestic submissions.
