AMG Launches a New Sonic-Welded Cassette Case
Share
AMG's cassette case just got an upgrade. The new case brings full sonic-welded encapsulation to the format — the same tamper-evident, permanently sealed protection AMG uses across vinyl, CDs, and 8-tracks, purpose-built for the cassette shell and J-card.
Why It Matters
Cassettes bring a different set of preservation challenges than vinyl or CDs — shell durability, J-card condition, and protecting the internal tape mechanism all matter. A sonic-welded case locks all of that in permanently, with no way to tamper with the contents without it being obvious.
New Slabs In Action
Here's what it actually looks like in hand. A few recent AMG-graded submissions, straight from the case:
A sealed copy of Rick Astley's Whenever You Need Somebody (1987), graded AMG 7, Sealed Very Good (VG).

A sealed Britney Spears ...Baby One More Time (1999), graded AMG 8, Sealed Excellent (E).

And a sealed Green Day Dookie (1994), also graded AMG 8, Sealed Excellent (E).

Custom Displays Still Available
Customers can choose the same custom-layout treatment as every other format AMG cases — shell and J-card arranged side by side, stacked, or spread open to show the full insert. Here's a look at a few different approaches:
2Pac's All Eyez On Me (1996, Death Row Records, first-issue 2x cassette), graded AMG 8, Open Excellent (E) — both tapes cased side by side.

A promotional copy of Nirvana's In Utero (Geffen Records) — shell and J-card displayed side by side.

Nirvana's Bleach on Sub Pop — the J-card spread fully open alongside the shell.

Eminem's Infinite (1996, Web Entertainment) — shell stacked above the unfolded J-card.

Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble's Couldn't Stand the Weather — J-card and shell shown side by side.
