Season 2, Episode 2 of King of Collectibles: The Goldin Touch on Netflix may be the moment that changes how the world thinks about music collecting. A 1996 factory-sealed, signed copy of Eminem's debut album Infinite came through the door at Audio Media Grading (AMG), and left as the highest-selling commercially released hip hop album ever recorded — $62,400.

The Item: A True One-of-One
Before the Slim Shady LP. Before 8 Mile. Before the world knew his name — Eminem released Infinite in 1996 on Web Entertainment, a Detroit-based independent label. It was a commercial failure by any measure, pressed in a limited run of just 250 promotional copies for media and radio. Most were played, traded, or lost. Finding one today is extraordinarily rare. Finding one still factory-sealed? Nearly impossible.
This copy came from the personal collection of Paul Rosenberg — Eminem's manager since the very beginning. And it was signed by Eminem himself, one of the most notoriously difficult autographs to obtain in the music world.
For those who know their Eminem history, one detail on the label seals the provenance: it bears the iconic 8 Mile address — the first thing that caught Ken Goldin's eye when the record was brought in.
The Story Behind the Signature
Getting Eminem's signature on this record wasn't luck. It was a deliberate mission. After a meeting with Ken Goldin about the growing music collectibles market, one goal was set: bring the biggest piece possible to the table.
Paul Rosenberg was approached: could Marshall sign it? Two weeks passed. Then came the call: "Rob, I got it signed."
At 11:30 PM, Ken Goldin sent a text — he had video of Eminem signing the record. Phones lit up across the room. The message that followed: "Don't show it to nobody, man."
That video, and the unbroken chain of custody it represents, made this a certified, documented, undeniable one-of-one.
The Moment on Screen
The reaction in the room when the record came through said everything: "No way." The questions flew — how do you know it's a promo copy? (The 8 Mile address on the label.) Is that really Em's autograph? (Cue the video.) He's left-handed, by the way — a detail that didn't escape anyone watching.
The AMG grade on the slab: 8 (Excellent). Factory-sealed. The label documents everything — the pressing, the provenance, the collection of Paul Rosenberg, the signature. Every detail verified and on record.
The Record-Breaking Sale
The highest recorded sale for a commercially released hip hop album. Not a test pressing. Not a one-off studio artifact. A commercial release — one that flopped in its time and has now, nearly 30 years later, reached a price that would have seemed impossible even a decade ago.
Music collectibles have been knocking on the door for years. This sale kicked it open.
Why Grading Matters
A piece like this only reaches its full potential when the story behind it is verified and documented. The AMG slab isn't just protection — it's a certificate of everything that makes it extraordinary. The pressing. The condition. The provenance. The signature. All of it confirmed and on record.
At Audio Media Grading, we bring the same rigor and credibility to music that PSA and BGS brought to sports cards. Because the music deserves it — and so does the collector.
