How Much Does It Cost to Grade a Record? AMG Pricing & Turnaround Explained

Base grading at AMG starts at $75 for vinyl and $50 for CDs, cassettes, and 8-tracks — but the final price depends on how you want the item displayed, how fast you need it back, and whether an autograph needs authenticating.

Here's the full breakdown:

Base Grading Costs

Vinyl: starting at $75
CD: starting at $50
Cassette: starting at $50
8-Track: starting at $50

These base prices cover standard sealed or open-in-sleeve encapsulation. Two display upgrades add cost: Open Displayed, with the record half in the sleeve and half exposed, is $49; Open Displayed with the record positioned to the right of the sleeve is $89 (for cassettes or CDs, this option is an additional $29). A fully Custom Layout runs $99.

Expedited Service

Standard turnaround is roughly 4 weeks (about 30 days) from when your submission arrives at AMG's facility.  Custom displays and autograph authentication is 6-8 weeks.  If you need it faster, two express options are available at checkout: 7 Day Express for $250, or 48 Hour Express for $500.

Autograph Authentication

Submitting a signed item? AMG partners with JSA for autograph authentication. A JSA Letter of Authenticity (LOA) only is $35; a JSA LOA plus full autograph grading is $70. AMG also accepts existing COAs from JSA, PSA and Beckett for autographs that have already been authenticated elsewhere.

Grading vs. Archive, and Other Add-Ons

Prefer authentication and encapsulation without a numerical grade on the label? AMG's Archive service does exactly that, and runs $10 less than full grading. Keyhole mounts, for wall display, add $5 per item.

You'll also set an estimated value and an insurance amount during submission — this protects your item in transit and ensures it's covered for its full value while in AMG's hands.
